Ayurveda uses all parts of the Emblica officinalis plant, including fruit, seeds, leaves, roots and bark, for a wide range of therapeutic purposes due to its general immune-boosting properties.

Amla is a very valuable source of vitamin C and has excellent antioxidant, cell-protective and immune-boosting properties. Each 100 g of amla fruit contains 470-680 mg of natural vitamin C. It is rich in minerals (e.g. calcium, phosphorus, iron, magnesium), carotene, carbohydrates, thiamine and riboflavin, dietary fibre, antioxidants (polyphenols and flavonoids) and can therefore increase the body's resistance.

Research has shown that the vitamin C in Amla is absorbed twelve times more efficiently and is more effective than synthetic vitamin C. Research shows that just 8.7 mg of natural vitamin C from Amla is equivalent to 100 mg of synthetic vitamin C.
